This is a custom-built replica of the Zittau Grinder Man.

The original dates back to 1824 and remains fully functional in Zittau. I redesigned it based on photographs and simplified it slightly for 3D printing.

The model can be beautifully operated as a water feature by the pond, powered by a solar pump.

Assembly instructions:

• Paint all parts according to your desired colors
• Insert the bearings into the frame
• Melt the press-fit nuts into the frame and into the hose holder
• For the polyamide screw, I cut an M4 thread at the top; if you prefer or are able, you may also melt an M3 press-fit nut and use an M3 polyamide screw
• Mount the wheelbarrow wheel onto the wheelbarrow
• Test whether the shaft from the grinding stone fits into the bearing; if necessary, file it down
• During assembly, insert the grinding stone through the right side of the frame, followed by the open auxiliary disc, the water wheel, and the closed auxiliary disc; then place it into the left-side bearing of the frame; finally, attach the second open auxiliary disc to the outer right side of the frame
• Slide the hose holder together at the top and secure it with screws
• Screw the entire assembly to the base plate from below
• Glue the wheelbarrow onto the base plate in an appropriate position using PVC Tangit adhesive
• Attach the hat to the grinder man
• Glue the grinder man onto the base plate

Optional: a 9-watt solar pump from Temu, brand Aisitin
