DeWalt Corded Orbital Sander → Ridgid Shop Vac Adapter

A simple adapter that allows a DeWalt corded random orbital sander to connect directly to a Ridgid 1-7/8″ shop-vac hose for dust collection.

If you’ve ever sanded without dust extraction, you know the result: a fine layer of sawdust on everything in the shop… including your lungs.

This adapter solves that problem by creating a tight friction-fit connection between the sander’s dust port and a standard Ridgid shop-vac hose.

Compatible Tools

Designed for:

• DeWalt D26451 corded random orbital sander

Another user has confirmed it also fits:

• DeWalt DW423 orbital sander

Before printing, check that your sander’s dust port matches the one shown in the photos. DeWalt has changed dust port designs over the years.

Hose Compatibility

Designed for Ridgid 1-7/8″ shop-vac hoses.

Dimensions:

• Sander side inner diameter: ~38.5 mm
• Vacuum side inner diameter: ~45.4 mm

The adapter intentionally does not include a taper, since both the sander port and the vacuum hose already have their own tapers. This creates a tight friction fit without needing clamps.

Printing Notes

• Prints cleanly at 0.20 mm layer height
• PLA or PETG both work well
• No supports required
• 15–20% infill recommended

If you want maximum durability in a workshop environment, PETG is a good choice.

Power-tool dust ports are notoriously inconsistent between brands and hose sizes.

This adapter lets you connect:

DeWalt sander → 3D printed adapter → Ridgid shop vac hose

Which means less airborne dust and less cleanup after sanding.
