Spending too many hours in front of your computer without moving?

StandUp Reminder is a simple, compact 3D-printed timer that helps you remember to get up every 45 minutes, promoting better posture, circulation, and mental clarity.

Whether you’re working, studying, or gaming, this little device will support healthier habits and keep your body from suffering the consequences of sitting too long.

🔧 Key Features:

Seamless Display – For a continuous and immersive viewing experience. The borderless design gives the product a sleek, modern look, perfect for elegant setups and clean, professional workspaces.

45-minute countdown – Pre-set for the optimal break interval. (customizable with Arduino IDE)

One-button activation – Uses a simple big button to start and stop the countdown.

Seamless 4-digit LED display – Powered by the TM1637 module for smooth and readable time display.

Visual-only alert – No sound or vibration, making it perfect for shared or quiet workspaces.

“Look At Me” Mode – When the countdown reaches zero, the display blinks 00:00 for 10 seconds. If not reset within this time, the timer enters an attention-grabbing state, flashing random characters rapidly to break through tunnel vision and help users in deep focus recognize the alert through peripheral awareness.

📖 How It Works

Using the StandUp Reminder is simple and intuitive:

Power it up – Once connected to power, the display will show 45:00, indicating the preset countdown time.

Start the timer – Press the button once to begin the countdown.

Break time alert – When the timer reaches 00:00, it starts blinking for 10 seconds.
Press the button during this phase to reset the timer back to 45:00 and start a new session.

Reset anytime – If you decide to take a break before the countdown ends, simply press the button and the timer will reset to 45:00, ready for the next cycle.

Customize the time – You can easily change the countdown duration in the Arduino code. The relevant sections are clearly commented to make quick editing hassle-free.

🛠 Project Development with  PCBWay’s Support

A massive thank you to PCBWay for helping bring this project to life.

PCBWay specializes in PCB, PCBA, CNC, and 3D Printing, and has (in my experience) the best support & the widest amount of options for manufacturing.

They also have a PCBWay+ Store where I purchased the Arduino NANO at a great price!

In addition to the essential components for this build, range of electronic parts and accessories at great prices, with an easy checkout process and fast, well-packaged shipping.
