Pet Ticks Remover Bit
Pet owners don’t need an explanation of what ticks are. It’s no longer a seasonal issue — it’s practically an invasion. You can use any kind of protective treatment: spot-on drops, collars, sprays. But the fact remains — my cat Felix, despite all the products I apply, keeps bringing home ticks almost daily. It really feels like all that chemistry doesn’t repel them — it attracts them.
Removing ticks by hand is an unpleasant task. Anyone who’s dealt with it knows: by the time you part the fur, find the tick, and try to grab it, the animal starts twisting, pulling away, the fur closes back up, and you’re starting all over again. Especially if the pet is impatient — like my Felix. He’ll sit still for a few seconds, then starts squirming, turning his head to see what I’m doing, and just gets in the way.
I used to rely on a standard manual tool — a TickRemoverHook, also known as a tick twister. But then one day I had an idea: what if I attach that hook to an electric screwdriver? That way I wouldn’t have to dig around in the fur forever — I could find the tick quickly, light it up, and twist it out without the hassle.
So after that idea, I bought a small electric screwdriver with a built-in light — specifically for this purpose. At first, I thought about 3D-printing an adapter, but then remembered I had a bunch of old bits lying around. I simply drilled a hole in one of them and glued in a plastic TickRemoverHook. The result was a compact and convenient tool. The light helps you instantly spot the tick even in thick fur, and the rotation makes the removal fast and precise.
I even filmed the moment I made this bit — figured it might be useful to someone. If you have a 3D printer, you can print an adapter. If not — just do what I did: grab an old bit, drill it, and glue in the hook. Works just as well.
Sometimes, the simplest idea solves the toughest problem.
