This is a two-piece housing for the very inexpensive PS2 joystick modules that you can get on eBay. They are widely available for less than $2 each with free shipping.

This housing is small enough to hide in the palm of your hand if you are controlling a device during a performance.

No wire is shown, however, there is a channel through the parts to route the wire out the end of the housing.

The input to the module is +5VDC. The outputs are X and Y axis 0 to 5VDC proportional analog voltage, and momentary "ON" by clicking straight onto the hat of the joystick. These outputs are very simple to use as Arduino inputs.
