Various NERF rifle barrels.
The barrel interiors feature a spiral structure that imparts spin to the darts.
The goal is to achieve a more stable flight path (conservation of angular momentum…).
Does it actually work? If you believe in it—absolutely. Most darts are crooked and off‑center; in that case, spin isn’t going to make much of a difference :)
If you mark one side of an undamaged dart, you’ll notice the spin. Whether that improves the flight path—well, maybe!
How securely the barrel fits depends heavily on the tolerances—feel free to fine‑tune with a bit of hot glue or a utility knife if needed.
