ELEGOO Refill Spool Adapter — Full Diameter & Canvas Compatible

Reuse your original ELEGOO spool sides with cheaper refill filament while keeping the original inner mounting diameter.

Unlike many refill spool adapters, this design does not reduce the inner diameter of the original spool. The finished spool remains compatible with the original Canvas spool holder.

The original ELEGOO spool sides can also be reused, including the original RFID component.

What you need

* 1 × printed spool adapter
* 8 × M4 nylon-insert lock nuts (nyloc nuts)
* 8 × M4 16mm screws with countersunk heads
* 1 × ELEGOO refill filament spool
* The original ELEGOO spool sides

Printing instructions

The print file contains two built-in pauses for inserting the M4 lock nuts.

First pause:

During the first pause, insert 4 M4 nylon-insert lock nuts into the designated holes.

The nuts are designed to fit tightly and may require some force to insert. Make sure they are fully seated.

Important: During the first pause, insert the nuts with the nylon locking ring facing UP.

Second pause:

During the second pause, insert the remaining 4 M4 nylon-insert lock nuts.

Important: During the second pause, insert the nuts with the nylon locking ring facing DOWN.

Do not mix up the orientation of the nuts between the two pauses.

Assembly

After printing:

1. Place the refill filament onto the printed adapter.
2. Position the original ELEGOO spool sides on both sides of the refill.
3. Use the outer rings included with the model to create/mark the correct mounting holes in the original spool sides.
4. Install the 8 M4 countersunk screws.
5. Tighten the screws evenly and make sure the spool sides are securely fixed.
6. Install the completed spool onto your Canvas spool holder.

The original spool sides are retained, so the original RFID functionality can be maintained.

Why this design?

Many refill spool adapters reduce the diameter of the spool’s inner mounting hole. This can make the resulting spool incompatible with the original Canvas spool holder.

This design was created specifically to avoid that problem.
