Publius Cornelius Scipio Africanus — Bust
This bust represents Publius Cornelius Scipio Africanus, better known as Scipio Africanus, one of the greatest military commanders of the Roman Republic.
Born around 236 BC, Scipio played a decisive role during the Second Punic War, when Rome was fighting Carthage and its formidable general Hannibal Barca. After a series of successful campaigns in Hispania, Scipio took the war directly to North Africa. In 202 BC, he won the famous Battle of Zama, defeating Hannibal and effectively bringing the Second Punic War to an end. This victory earned him the honorary name Africanus.
This sculpture is inspired by one of the most popular and widely associated representations of Scipio Africanus, traditionally used to illustrate his appearance. His shaved head, severe features and determined expression give the figure a particularly powerful presence, evoking the image of a disciplined and resolute Roman military commander.
The bust was designed to preserve this austere and monumental appearance while emphasizing the volumes of the face, the pronounced facial lines and the folds of the garment. A simple classical pedestal completes the sculpture without drawing attention away from the subject.
Designed for 3D printing, this model is an ideal addition to a collection dedicated to Ancient Rome, great military strategists or historical figures who profoundly shaped the history of the Mediterranean world.
