Good size trash bin designed for my bathroom. The dimensions are 35cm tall with 24cm x 16cm base and it requires about 950g of plastic.

I wanted to create a good looking trashcan for my bathroom that could actually hold a good amount of wast, but couldn't find one that I liked so I decided to make my own. Both models are printed in 5 parts. Two for the body, two for the lid and one for the bag holder. The two body parts fit together with pins but I recommend glueing them together so that the bottom will not fall of when the bin is lifted. The two lid parts are printed together as one part with the print-in-place hinge. The lid is designed to only open one way to prevent it from any unnecessary swinging (I found this super annoying with my old trash bin) and 25mm x 5mm x 2mm magnet holes are included in the lid and body for the possibility to glue in magnets that hold the lid shut. How ever, this is not necessary based on my experience. The bag holder makes it easy to install trash bags of various sizes and it very effectively keeps them in place preventing extra cleaning. The trash bag holder and the lid easily slide into the body.

Printing instructions:

I printed all of the parts with 3 walls and 15% infill. I didn't experiment with two walls, however, you could print the larger one with less than 1kg of plastic if you used 2 walls. If you decide to experiment with two walls, please tell me how it went :) Smaller version printed with Sunlu marble PLA and the bigger one is printed with some old silk PLA.

For all of the parts, I also turned on the option “Solid infill every” and had the solid infill every 100 layers for extra rigidity. I printed both version with this option on but I assume that the trashcans would be very sturdy even without this option thanks to the extra brim at the seam of the two bodies.

Lid: First import the two lid pieces and use the “Place on face” command to turn both of them around so that the face that was facing upwards faces downwards as shown in the pictures. The protruding parts in the Lid_1 should be facing upwards and there should be no large gaps between the two lid parts. Print without supports

Body: The Body_1 is oriented the correct way and requires no support material. Body_2 needs to be flipped with the “Place on face” command such that the pins are facing upwards. The bottom needs support material (at least I used some). I recommend using the Snug support rather than Organic for this one.

Bag_holder: The bag holder is already oriented correctly and requires no support.
