Fidget Keycaps Inspired by Squid Game: The gonggi game featured in Season 2 of Squid Game—known in Korea as a one‑hand stone‑tossing game—is something many of us played as kids, albeit with small sandbags or pebbles instead of stones. While recreating the game’s original size and mechanics might feel a bit repetitive—after all, plenty of folks on our platform have already tackled this design—I thought this particular aesthetic would make for an excellent fidget keycap. To my surprise, I ended up learning something new along the way: I explored multi‑color, single‑piece printing, fine‑tuning print order and layout to optimize print speed while increasing purge volume to prevent color bleeding.

Each individual keycap takes about 35 minutes to print. Prints on trays 06–07 are 5‑color composite prints (total print time: 2.5 hours), while prints on trays 01–05 are 5‑color single‑tray prints (total print time: 3 hours).

Switches:

The model does not include mechanical keyboard switches; you’ll need to purchase them separately. Just head over to Taobao or Pinduoduo to snag some affordable options. If you’re new to switches, I’d recommend starting with青轴 (Blue Switches). We also suggest opting for switches that don’t come with dust‑proof rims.

Assembly:

1. Be sure to trim off the four long, thin protrusions inside the cap.

2. Pay close attention to the installation orientation: The cross‑shaped structure features one longer side, which corresponds to the long edge of the switch. We recommend first assembling the top cap with the switch without attaching the base—test the mechanism to ensure it clicks into place smoothly before securing it to the base.

3. If the fit feels a bit tight, you can carefully enlarge the mounting holes or fill in any gaps—but if the issue persists despite your best efforts, we suggest tweaking the print settings for better results. Sorry about that!
