A cool, space age modernist pencil holder/desk accessory. Designed to hold both writing implements and letters or papers. Original Design by Pierre Vandel. I built a cavity into the bottom to add weights as the original was solid aluminum. I think it will be too light and unstable when printed in PLA so I'm going to add wheel weights to the cavity. The cavity is designed to hold these wheel weights (Amazon: https://a.co/d/1S71y2b) in a 3 high stack of 2x2 weights.
Pierre Vandel was born in 1939 in Roubaix in France. He received his college degree in industrial design, after which he joined the design office of Ponts et Chaussées and studied at the CNAM (Arts and Crafts). He is known for his 1970s designs of stereo equipment, side tables, shelving units, lighting, and other furniture. In 1969 he founded his brand Pierre Vandel-Paris.

The cavity in the bottom is a little too small to hold a 2x2, 3 high stack of the weights as discussed above. You'll need another ~2mm in the front to back dimension of the rectangular cavity. It's currently 38mm should 40-41mm. I just sanded the weights on a belt sander to make them fit. It also isn't deep enough to hold a 3 high stack. That said, I'm happy with the weight I got with the 2 high stack. The weights are 0.5 oz (14.2g) each so that gets you 4 oz (113.6g) which is sufficient for stability.
