This original pen holder features a design with a continuous wave-like + dotted parametric surface texture. The curved surfaces interweave to create an offset honeycomb ripple pattern, resulting in a minimalist form with rich textural depth. It serves both as a desk organizer for stationery and as a decorative accent piece. The model has been optimized for FDM printing, allowing the entire piece to be printed without any supports throughout the process. It is compatible with PLA filament, and after printing, the texture details are rendered exceptionally well. The image shows a real‑world print produced on a Tuzhu FDM printer using white PLA: wall thickness is uniform, minimizing warping; the internal diameter is ample enough to hold various types of pens; and the parametric design lets you adjust the height, diameter, and depth of the recesses directly in Rhino or Grasshopper.

 

  • Recommended filament: PLA

  • Layer height: 0.15–0.2 mm (0.15 mm yields the best texture detail)

  • Infill: 15%–20%

  • Supports: ❌ None required

  • Wall thickness: ≥1.8 mm

  • Printing temperature: Nozzle 200°C, heated bed 60°C (standard PLA settings)

  • Placement: Stand the cylinder upright on a flat surface for direct printing
