The fourteenth Cat Tarot card, also known as the Thirteenth Arcana—the Death card—can be customized with additional parts to turn it into a pendant, used as a bookmark, or employed for divination. By attaching a magnetic backing, it can even serve as a fridge magnet, making it incredibly versatile!

The Death card depicts a cat wearing a red feathered headdress, holding a banner aloft as it rides a white warhorse, looking down from above upon the creatures below. In its hand, the cat raises a black banner emblazoned with the Rosicrucian symbol. Some interpret this symbol as representing the process of rebirth after death, while others associate it with Mars, signifying immortal vitality. Beneath the Death card’s horse lies a dead mouse, symbolizing that death is an inevitable natural phenomenon—one that cannot and need not be avoided.

The distant river in the background is one of the four rivers that flow through the Garden of Eden, upon which floats a boat heading toward the rising sun—a symbol of eternal life—underscoring that death is by no means the end of everything. The Death card’s white horse, meanwhile, embodies purest innocence, representing the act of washing away all that has come before and starting anew. The Death card thus heralds the letting go of the past and the attainment of new life.

Typically, when we think of “death,” our focus tends to be on physical mortality—such as accidents or life-threatening illnesses. Yet in Tarot, such catastrophic events are often represented by the Tower card, whereas the Death card more commonly signifies other forms of ending—endings that occur continuously, every day, every minute, every second. Leaving a job can be a kind of ending; finishing a paper is another; even going to bed at night and waking up the next morning marks an ending. From major milestones like the termination of a contract or the dissolution of a marriage to smaller daily transitions like sleeping at night and waking up in the morning, we coexist with these endings every moment. So drawing the Death card isn’t really something to panic about.

However, humans naturally fear change, and it is precisely this fear that fuels anxiety about the end of familiar patterns. Consequently, the real lesson conveyed by the Death card is how to face change. When the Death card appears upright, the person concerned usually still has the capacity to meet the impending change head-on; the tarot reader’s role is simply to remind them that change is already here and urge them to prepare accordingly. This change is unavoidable—even if the individual themselves has invited it, such as by submitting their resignation.

The card design is original, measuring 8×12 cm with a thickness of 2.8 mm.

For optimal results, we recommend using a 0.2 mm nozzle; however, a 0.4 mm nozzle will also print normally, as shown in the image below.

Materials used:
If you’re printing with standard Ams filament, that’s fine; but if you’re using non-Ams filament,

start by printing in black,

switch to red on layer 10,

change to sunshine yellow on layer 19,

and finally switch to white on layer 27.

We plan to create a full set of 22 Major Arcana cards, culminating in a custom box. Stay tuned and follow our collection page ↓
