I first printed the larger version and then the smaller one—everyone knows that scaling up a mechanical structure is relatively straightforward, while scaling down is much more challenging. That’s why, for this mini version, every single component has been meticulously adjusted and optimized compared with the larger model.

The smaller ball is even more fun and practical. We’ve eliminated various complex snap-fit designs and instead use filament strands to connect the main components, significantly reducing the number of required connections—and in some cases, eliminating the need for glue altogether. As a result, print time, material consumption, and overall completion efficiency have all improved dramatically, while structural reliability has also been greatly enhanced.

 The mini Poké Ball has a diameter of 16 cm and weighs 420 grams, with the number of parts reduced by 70% compared with the original version. If you’d like to print a larger size, simply adjust the dimensions of the filament-strand attachment holes accordingly.
