The prop from the musical “Rebecca,” featuring Rebecca’s beloved statue of Cupid. In the production, the statue is designed to split into three distinct sections when broken apart.
After reducing the polygon count, the model was divided into four components: the wings, the upper body, the lower body, and the base.
The base requires adhesive bonding at both the top and bottom; it’s designed as a cage-like structure, allowing users to place small, non‑removable objects inside.
A total of 14 6x3 magnets are needed!
Printed in PLA Silk for a subtle, pearlescent finish that closely mimics the tactile quality of ceramic.
The Silk material tends to be relatively brittle—automatic tree supports often snap under stress—and striking a balance between print time and structural integrity proved challenging, especially when adding extra supports to the upper body.
We experimented with three different support configurations before ultimately achieving successful printing using a “plate‑in‑plate” support setup.
If printing with alternative materials, consider eliminating the internal support cones within the model.
