• Fish Tank Hideaway

  • Aquarium Aquascaping

  • Weathered remnants

  • Shipwreck artifacts

The design of this hideaway draws inspiration from underwater shipwreck debris or ancient stone sarcophagi eroded by currents. Rather than a conventional, symmetrical structure, it evokes the natural weathering of objects that have endured long ages, shaped by water flow and colonized by marine life. The overall form consists of multiple staggered platforms, arches, and column-like supports, creating a complex, three-dimensional labyrinthine space that offers small aquarium inhabitants an adventurous refuge steeped in history.

  • Structural Design: The hideaway takes on an irregular, fragmented silhouette, with its most striking features being its perforated walls and interlocking arched structures. These elements form natural entryways and internal hiding spaces, serving not only aesthetic purposes but also practical ones—allowing water to circulate freely while maintaining proper filtration, and providing fish, shrimp, and other creatures with ample opportunities to move in and out, as well as plenty of nooks for shelter and exploration. Its base is broad and irregular, ensuring stable placement at the bottom of the tank, while the textured surface adds to the piece’s organic, natural appearance.
  • Color and Details: The entire structure is rendered in a fresh light blue (cyan), a hue that stands out vividly within an aquarium setting. This color not only serves as a visual focal point but also creates an easily recognizable “landmark” for the fish. The surface clearly retains the 3D-printed layer lines, which follow the building’s contours and the subtle undulations of weathered forms, producing a distinctive texture reminiscent of rock or coral—as if crafted from some ancient mineral or resin.
  • Function and Aesthetics: More than just a simple hideout, this piece doubles as a miniature adventure scene within the aquarium. Placed at the bottom or in a corner of the tank, it satisfies the needs of fish and invertebrates for shelter and rest, while its fantastical “weathered wreckage” design infuses the aquarium with an air of mysterious history and artistic flair, making the entire aquascape more unique and captivating.
