The eighteenth Cat Tarot card, also known as the seventeenth card, “The Star,” can be customized with additional parts to create a hanging plaque; it can serve as a bookmark; it can be used for divination; and by attaching a magnetic backing, it can double as a refrigerator magnet—truly versatile!

Among the myriad stars that shimmer in the night sky, the brightest is said to be Sirius, bringing hope and confidence to those who seek assistance. Beneath this twinkling celestial canopy, a cat kneels by the edge of a pond, pouring the Water of Life into its depths. The water the cat pours originates from the Chalice of Temperance, embodying all life on Earth and symbolizing vitality—not merely being passed between two cups. Not far from the pond, perched on a branch, sits a phoenix, heralding the immortality of life. The earth represents consciousness, the water represents the unconscious, the phoenix signifies spiritual transcendence, and the cat embodies one’s true self. In essence, The Star is a card brimming with hope, foretelling the fulfillment of allegories and the interplay of inspiration and spirit. It reminds us never to lose hope: only through self-confidence, self-respect, and self-reliance can we achieve meaningful results.

The key theme of The Star is “hope,” yet its sense of hope and optimism is often detached from reality. Although the card exudes beauty, its appearance seldom reflects concrete, tangible circumstances. Rather, The Star is closely tied to the querent’s psychological state, signifying a mindset filled with hope and a belief that outcomes will be positive.

While the uplifting feelings evoked by The Star are undeniably pleasant, they lack stability because they are not grounded in material or practical realities. This pure joy may stem from spiritual awakening, but more often it arises from ignorance or prolonged suppression. Ignorance typically occurs when someone embarks on a new endeavor without fully grasping the challenges ahead, becoming overly absorbed in fantasies of success and slipping into a state of elation. Prolonged suppression, on the other hand, happens after enduring significant hardships and setbacks; individuals weighed down by emotional pain may suddenly—and inexplicably—become unexpectedly optimistic. Even though their external circumstances remain unchanged, their mood can soar as if they’d just received a dose of morphine—an illusory, boundless optimism born of psychological stress, which is also a manifestation of The Star. However, regardless of whether the hope or optimism is genuine or illusory, such fleeting states cannot endure. Without adequate preparation for the real world, the querent will soon confront the harshness of reality. Therefore, it is crucial to consult other cards in the spread to gain a clearer picture of the querent’s actual situation in the here and now.

Of course, interpretations must always be tailored to the specific context. If the question being asked does not involve material concerns, then considerations of practical support take on a different dimension. Naive, uninformed children are unlikely to plot or scheme against others, while those who have long endured suffering tend to develop empathy for the pain of others. When The Star appears, the querent is generally seen as kind and amiable—at least at that moment. Precisely because they are free from worldly constraints, they can let their imagination run wild, making The Star particularly beneficial for creative professions. Moreover, as long as financial stability is not a priority and the ultimate goal is not material gain, The Star often yields favorable readings—for example, in backpacking trips or spiritual retreats—provided the querent’s focus remains on personal feelings, intuition, or similar intangible pursuits.

The card face is an original design, measuring 8 x 12 cm with a thickness of 2.8 mm.

For optimal results, we recommend using a 0.2 mm nozzle; however, a 0.4 mm nozzle will also print normally, as shown in the image below.

Materials used:
If you’re printing with standard AMS filament, that’s fine; if you’re using non-AMS filament,

start by printing in black,

switch to red on layer 10,

change to sunshine yellow on layer 19,

and finally switch to white on layer 27.

We plan to produce a series of 22 Major Arcana cards and conclude with a matching box set. Stay tuned and follow our collection page ↓
