Mazinger Z: A battle robot secretly constructed over 15 years by Dr. Koji Kabuto in the underground basement of his villa, dedicated to thwarting Dr. Hell’s ambition to conquer the world. Powered by “photon energy” extracted from strontium alloy and clad entirely in indestructible “Super Alloy Z,” it is said to possess combat power comparable to that of the U.S. Seventh Fleet. In peacetime, it remains on standby beneath the sewage treatment pool next to the research institute, requiring activation via a detachable cockpit—Pilder. Although Dr. Kabuto stated upon his passing that the design was already fully optimized and required no further modifications, subsequent episodes revealed the need for refinements, which were achieved through technical enhancements by Professor Ryoji and others. By the finale of “Great Mazinger,” the robot had undergone a comprehensive upgrade, replacing its original armor with “New Super Alloy Z” and undergoing several-fold reinforcement, ultimately leading the team to victory even when all seemed lost (in fact, the final battle of Great Mazinger was primarily fought by Mazinger Z).
