This is a 3D-printed vintage rangefinder-style multi-functional storage ornament I created for Father’s Day. It faithfully replicates the classic retro design of Leica’s Q series camera, combining both storage and photo-frame functions.

My father, now in his later years, has developed a passion for photography, but most of his digital images can only be viewed on electronic screens. To make it easier for him to enjoy his photos, I gifted him a photo printer and designed this decorative frame-storage box that holds both 3-inch Polaroid prints and standard 3-inch photographs. It can store cherished memories between my father and me, as well as beautiful landscape shots.

All supports within the print file have been manually added, making them easy to remove. Every print file has undergone multiple tests, so you can simply print it straight away.

  1. Design: Featuring the classic Leica black-and-silver color scheme, with a diamond-patterned, lychee‑skin‑like anti‑slip texture on the front of the body. The iconic red Coca-Cola logo perfectly captures the timeless aesthetic of a vintage rangefinder camera. The lens section boasts a multi‑layered, metallic‑textured rotary knob structure, entirely 3D‑printed, while the front end features a sealed cover design.

  2. Product Positioning: A dual‑purpose decorative piece—both a vintage rangefinder‑style storage box and a photo frame—perfect for creative desktop decor or home furnishings.

  3. Photo Frame Function: The back of the body recreates the screen area of a digital camera, complete with a dedicated photo slot where small-sized pictures can be inserted. You can embed favorite portraits or scenic landscapes, transforming it into a retro desktop photo frame.

  4. Storage Function: This camera-shaped ornament doubles as an openable storage box. Inside, you can stash photos, rings, USB drives, earphones, paper clips, and other small items. Both the lens and the body interior serve as storage spaces. The lens threads can be unscrewed to hold your father’s secret savings, while the main body’s top lid opens up additional storage capacity.

  5. Attention to Detail: The adjustment dial atop the body, the viewfinder window, and the functional buttons on the back have all been meticulously modeled to achieve an extremely high level of realism. Placed on your desk, it serves as both a decorative accent and a practical tool for storing and displaying photos. Its height closely mirrors that of a classic Leica portable camera, exuding a strong vintage vibe—ideal for desks, bookshelves, or photography-themed soft décor.

Here are the assembly steps. There are quite a few parts, so please pay close attention to distinguishing them. Glue will be required during assembly:

First, prepare all printed components and a bottle of glue.
Begin assembling the lens section: first insert the threaded base of the lens into the body from the inside and press firmly, then use the long threaded lens to tighten and secure it.
Next, insert two circular rings, paying careful attention to their order and orientation—with the flat side facing inward.
Then, use the grooved lens to tighten and secure it.
Finally, fix the transparent circular lens and the lens ring using glue, then attach them to the outermost lens ring. Lastly, screw everything onto the main lens body.
Secure the base of the body to the main unit using glue.
Fix the logo and buttons to the body using glue as well.
Finally, install the top cover. The viewfinder lens can remain uninstalled if desired; otherwise, glue it in place. Other buttons simply snap into the top cover. The support structure of the top cover was hand-drawn and can be easily removed with a utility knife. The video recording button requires glue. If the rotary knob feels too loose or too tight, adjust its size slightly according to your filament material.

Attach the viewfinder lens to the top cover using glue.
The rear electronic viewfinder slot can accommodate a 3-inch Polaroid photo. A dedicated photo card slot has already been reserved. With the top cover installed, the assembly is complete.
