Mini Dump Truck

I. Design Inspiration

This model replicates the look of an engineering dump truck, featuring three separate components—front cab, cargo bed, and wheels—offering dual functionality as both a playful toy for children and a compact desktop storage piece. Its simple structure is easy to assemble, making it ideal for beginners in 3D printing or for creative hands-on projects. The cargo bed can be detached or used as a small storage compartment.

II. 3D Printing Process

All parts are printed using PLA filament. The corrugated hood and window recesses on the front cab are molded as single pieces, avoiding thin walls that might easily break. A 0.2 mm clearance is left around the wheel axles to ensure smooth rolling without jamming. The overall design features minimal overhangs, with only slight support structures beneath the wheels. After printing, no extensive post-processing is required, and assembly is straightforward.

III. Structure and Functionality

The detachable cargo bed allows you to store small items such as paper clips or other odds and ends. With four independently rolling wheels, it doubles as a push-along toy for kids. The front cab faithfully reproduces the textured details of an engineering vehicle, boasting a compact yet refined design—perfect either as a decorative desktop piece or as an educational model for teaching mechanical disassembly and assembly.
