I. Inspiration

Instant film photographs, with their ritualistic immediacy and tangible physical presence, have paradoxically become a cherished medium for preserving memories in the digital age. Yet everyday storage often suffers from disarray—photos tend to scatter, corners get bent, and it’s difficult to quickly browse through them. This design draws on the vertical indexing logic of desktop file folders, transforming the folder’s flat profile into a three-dimensional storage container that allows instant film prints to be neatly stacked vertically, just like documents in a binder, making them easy to view at a glance. The magnetic version, meanwhile, takes inspiration from the everyday interaction between refrigerator magnets and metal pegboards, using magnetic attachment to achieve flexible, drill-free mounting and shifting the display of memories from drawers to walls.

II. Printing Requirements

For the main body, PLA or PETG is recommended; a layer height of 0.2 mm and an infill density of 15% to 20% are sufficient, with no supports needed. For the magnetic version, a 6-mm-diameter, 2-mm-thick circular neodymium magnet must be embedded in a recessed slot on the back; the dimensions of this slot have been designed according to standard tolerances, so the magnet can be easily pressed into place after printing. If a matte finish is desired, consider using matte PLA or applying a light sandblasting treatment.

III. Assembly Instructions

The standard version consists of two parts: a box body and a lid. The lid slides into the top of the box via a rail system, ensuring smooth opening and closing while remaining securely in place. The magnetic version features a snap-fit magnetic slot on the back; first press the magnet into the slot, then attach the entire unit to a refrigerator, metal bookshelf, or pegboard. Inside the box, evenly spaced dividers are provided, with each compartment sized to fit standard instant film sheet dimensions; when inserting photos, keep the front side facing outward for easy viewing.
