Creative Concept

When the front door is opened outward, if the force isn’t properly controlled or if both hands are occupied, the doorknob can slam hard against the wall, creating a jarring noise and causing irreversible damage to the lock plate—especially for smart locks—and to the wall itself.

However, conventional anti-collision solutions on the market generally suffer from unavoidable shortcomings: most traditional door stops are made of rigid materials. If 3D-printed, these rigid components are prone to cracking and breaking under repeated impacts, resulting in poor durability. Other designs, such as snap-on or magnetic door stops, only work for interior doors that need to remain open at all times and cannot meet the core requirement of keeping entrance doors closed, thus failing to address the root cause of the problem. Meanwhile, anti-collision devices mounted directly on the doorknob often lack versatility and aesthetic appeal.

This door stop features a core design of “spring cushioning + modular, interchangeable decor”. The spring mechanism efficiently absorbs and dissipates the impact force from the door, eliminating hard collisions at the source—protecting both the lock and the wall while completely eliminating collision noise. At the same time, the replaceable decorative heads transform the door stop from a “hidden hardware accessory” into a fun wall decoration, allowing users to freely swap between different styles to match various home decors, thereby satisfying both practicality and personalization.

For this pre-designed set, three distinct decorative head styles have been created to suit different tastes:

  • 🔴 Power Punch Style: A bold, dynamic design resembling a “little fist” firmly catching the door, full of playful charm.

  • 🔴 Kiss Lips Style: An exaggerated, whimsical design that uses a “gentle kiss” to cushion the impact, perfect for personalized interiors.

  • 🤚 Tathagata Palm Style: A classic, humorous design with an inherent “one palm to block the door” vibe, delivering maximum individuality.

Design Highlights

  1. Precise Solution to Pain Points: Addressing the frequent collisions between entrance doors, doorknobs, and walls, the spring mechanism provides highly effective cushioning, maximizing practicality.

  2. Modular Design: Interchangeable decorative heads balance functionality with personalization, enabling users to DIY and tailor the product to their unique home style.

  3. Combination of Creativity and Practicality: By solving real-world problems while introducing playful designs, this product breaks the monotony of traditional door stops and turns a small accessory into a standout feature of the home.

  4. Simple, Easy-to-Implement Structure: The spring mechanism requires no additional support; paired with modular snap-fit assembly, the polygonal-and-cylindrical connector design inherently accommodates tolerances, lowering the barrier to 3D printing and ensuring quick, hassle-free installation.

  5. Material-Friendly and Widely Compatible: This design is material-friendly and versatile: it doesn’t rely on flexible TPU filaments—common filaments like PLA and PETG can be used directly, reducing costs and simplifying production.

Installation Instructions

  1. Installation Location: Recommended to mount on the exterior wall above the door.
  2. Fixing Method: The base includes pre-drilled holes for nails; alternatively, 3M adhesive, nano-adhesive, or nail-free adhesives can be used for attachment.
  3. Installation Tip: Before securing, test the anti-collision performance from different positions and angles, and adjust until optimal before final fixation.
  4. Decorative Heads: Not essential accessories; if the spring length matches the doorknob’s travel range, the spring component alone is sufficient for collision protection.
  5. Removing the decorative heads requires tools such as needle-nose pliers—exercise caution during removal.
  6. DIY Decorative Heads: For homemade versions, simply perform a Boolean union operation on a cylinder model with a diameter of 20 mm and a thickness of 6 mm; no tolerance considerations are needed.
  7. Note: Special-shaped decorative heads may alter the spring’s compression direction, affecting its anti-collision performance; always test after replacement.
  8. If the spring travel does not meet the anti-collision requirements, you can enlarge it yourself (proportionally scaling up the decorative head).
