Design Rationale

Crayon Shin-chan and Doraemon are childhood memories shared by two generations, evoking nostalgia and warmth for countless individuals. In today’s fast-paced world, people yearn to infuse their everyday spaces with a sense of healing and nostalgia, transforming the desk from a mere tool holder into an emotional sanctuary. This pen holder centers on a cross-over fusion of the two iconic IPs, precisely addressing the emotional needs of anime fans while delivering practical storage functionality. By reimagining these beloved IPs in a fresh, contemporary form, it seamlessly integrates classic characters into modern life—satisfying collectors’ desire for keepsakes while providing everyday users with a playful, childlike desktop accessory that unites emotional appeal with practical utility.

Design Concept

In terms of styling, the design takes Crayon Shin-chan’s endearing expression as its core, complemented by soft, cuddly bear ears. The barrel is adorned with Doraemon’s signature round face and bell motifs, achieving a clever blend of the two IPs that both preserves each character’s distinct identity and creates a unique visual signature. Functionally, the rounded cylindrical shape provides ample storage space, accommodating pens, scissors, and other stationery items, while the non-slip base enhances stability during use. The material chosen is eco-friendly PLA suitable for 3D printing, balancing texture and safety; the gentle lavender hue exudes a soothing, healing vibe that complements a wide range of desk aesthetics. In this way, the product not only serves a practical purpose but also elevates the look of the workspace, embodying the design philosophy of “multi-functionality in one.”
