The 20th National College Students’ Intelligent Vehicle Competition – Outdoor High‑Speed Off‑Road Category

Due to IMU drift, we ended up withdrawing from the provincial competition and instead shared an open‑source GPS mounting solution for R‑cars. The copper‑pillar design from Zhufei was far too heavy, so I created my own custom CAD model to design a mainboard mounting plate and a dedicated GPS mounting plate.

The mainboard mounting plate is designed to accommodate PCBs measuring 100×60 mm, with M3 screw holes positioned at each of the four corners. For PCBs of other dimensions, be sure to leave sufficient clearance for mounting holes.

To connect the mainboard mounting plate to the vehicle’s front axle, use M2 screws—about 1 mm longer than the thickness of the mounting plate after it’s fully screwed in should be just right for fitting neatly into Zhufei’s vehicle chassis. If the screws are too short, the mounting plate will become loose and wobbly, compromising stability.

All printed components have been carefully dimensioned to ensure proper tolerances; the Topaz A1 mini can also handle these prints. The two GPS‑mounting parts can be printed using PETG—I used JAYO’s PETG—but for the mainboard mounting plate, it’s best to use a more rigid filament; I opted for Topaz’s PETG‑CF filament.

The compressed file contains 3MF files with optimized slicing parameters. Simply open them in Bambu Studio. A1 mini users can directly use my preconfigured process settings for slicing and printing (be mindful of the filament type—here, I employed PLA‑PETG inter‑support raft layers). Users of other printer models will need to adjust the material and process presets according to their specific machine.
