Turn your ideas into functional tools and accessories that make real work smoother, faster, and more precise.
A great workshop isn’t just about having more tools — it’s about having the right system.
This contest is all about designing functional workshop tools and accessories that make real work smoother, faster, and more precise. Whether you’re building, repairing, prototyping, or processing materials, your model should feel like something that truly belongs in a serious maker space.
🔧 Design Inspiration
1. Workflow Upgrades
Design tools that reduce repetitive steps and improve efficiency, such as: quick-install clamps or fixtures,
cable routing systems, tool-changing aids, dust-proof covers or workshop adapters, etc.
2. Precision & Measuring Tools
Create models that help makers measure, align, guide, or calibrate, such as: angle guides and drill guides,
measurement jigs, alignment tools for assembly, sanding or cutting positioning aids.
3. Tool Storage That Actually Works
Design organizers that feel engineered, modular, and built for real use, such as: modular wall systems and pegboard upgrades, stackable drawers and part bins, magnetic holders and bit organizers, multi-tool racks with labeled structure
4. Bench Accessories & Workstation Systems
Design add-ons that turn a messy bench into a controlled workspace, such as: modular bench attachments, vise accessories and clamp extensions, filament / wire / tape dispensers, lighting mounts or camera holders for close work.
5. Repair & Maintenance Helpers
Create tools that help disassemble, hold, protect, or repair, such as: protective covers for fragile parts, tool handles or grip enhancers, assembly supports for gluing or soldering, reusable repair jigs.
🧠 Tips for Better Submissions
• Design for real workshop conditions: dust, vibration, heavy handling, repeated use.
• Strong structure matters — reinforce stress points and avoid weak “display-only” geometry.
• Consider modular systems: expandability is a huge plus in real tool rooms.
• If your model works with hardware (magnets, screws, bearings), clearly list it in the description.
• Include real usage scenario photos showing your model in action.
🚫 To keep the contest fair and meaningful, submissions may be removed if they fall into the following categories:
• Purely decorative models with no real tool function (tool logos, tool signs, tool-shaped ornaments).
• Flat thin models that behave like a badge, without structural usefulness.
• Unrelated models that only force a theme connection through naming, texture, or minor tool patterns.
• Unsafe or harmful content, including weapon-like designs, sharp attack-oriented structures, or models that promote dangerous use.
